knowledge of cannabis

  • What is THC?
THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is a psychoactive chemical present naturally in certain varieties of the Cannabis sativa plant species, the primary active ingredient in marijuana.
  • What is CBD?
CBD (cannabidiol) is another cannabinoid that is believed to have medicinal benefits without producing a high. CBD has been shown to provide relief from anxiety and depression, help relieve pain, reduce inflammation and may even prevent cancer.
  • How does marijuana affect people differently?
Marijuana is known to cause different effects depending on each person’s unique genetic makeup.
  • Cannabis sativa L., commonly known as marijuana, has been cultivated for over 6,000 years. Its use was common among Native American cultures before European colonization. After its arrival in Europe and the US, the plant became illegal under federal law. However, scientific research since the 1960’s and legalization efforts have resulted in a wealth of knowledge about this ancient plant. A lot has happened in terms of cultivation practices, cannabis strains (chemistry), environmental impact, production practices, and the legal landscape.
  • 1. In Cannabis sativa L., both male and female flowers are borne on the same plant. 2. There are two types of flower head: Female flower heads contain tetrahedral pistils. Male flower heads contain pentagonal stamens.
    3. Each cone-shaped trichome has three horizontal rows of cells arranged around a central pore that opens into a hollow stem. This formation results from the division of the epidermal layer of the leaf into concentric layers.
    4. The trichomes of C. sativa can vary greatly in size and shape. They have been subdivided into five categories based on size and shape: capitate (capped), cylindrical (cylindrical), clavate (club shaped), lanceolate (lance-shaped) and papillate (papilla).
    5. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary active ingredient responsible for producing the psychoactive effects of marijuana. THC is only present in the resin secreted by the glandular hairs at the surface of the calyxes of female flowers.
  • 6. Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most abundant cannabinoid produced by industrial hemp. CBD is absent in the flowering parts of the plant.
  • 4. THC – THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) Cannabis contains a chemical called THC that makes people feel good. This chemical can have various effects on different parts of the body, but generally leaves people feeling happy and relaxed; this is what we call its ‘entourage effect’.
    5. CBD – CBD (Cannabidiol)
Another active ingredient in cannabis is CBD, short for cannabidoil. In recent years, studies have shown that CBD has medicinal properties beneficial for people around the world. Cannabidiol does not produce any psychoactive effects, and does not create any euphoric sensations.
    6. Sativa vs Indica
  • There are two main types of Cannabis sativa: indica and sativa. Both types contain the same amount of cannabinoids, however, they differ in their effects. If you’re looking for effects similar to those from marijuana, then you should choose sativa varieties. On the other hand, if you want a strain that’s great for relaxation, then go for the indicas.
